Canon Scanning Instructions – 1st floor scanners

Scan pictures, documents, or graphics to a .JPG file:

  1. Place the document or image face down on the scanner bed and close the lid.
  2. Push the Email button on the form of the scanner (far right button). The software interface box will appear and the scan will begin.
  3. The folder where the scanned file was saved will open automatically.

If step 3 fails:

  1. Open the computers Libraries and select the Picture Library.
  2. Open the MP Navigator Ex Folder.

Scan an image or document to a PDF file:

  1. Place the document or image face down on the scanner bed and close the lid.
  2. Push the PDF button on the front of the scanner (far left button). The software interface box will appear and the scan will begin.
  3. If you have more items to scan, place the next item on the scanner bed and click Next; otherwise click Finish.
  4. Once you have clicked finished, the folder where the scan was saved will open automatically.

If step 4 fails:

  1. Open the computers Libraries and select the Pictures Library.
  2. Open the MP Navigator Ex folder.

Auto scan an image or document (automatically detects file type):

  1. Place the document or image face down on the scanner bed and close the lid.
  2. Push the Auto Scan button on the front of the scanner (third from right). The software interface box will appear and the copy will begin.

Copy an image or document (send directly to B&W Printer):

  1. Place the document or image face down on the scanner bed and close the lid.
  2. Push the Copy button on the front of the scanner (second from right). The software interface box will appear and the copy will begin.
  3. Enter your Username and Password in the pop-up window and accept the charges.
  4. Retrieve copy from the printer.

HP Scanjet 5500c (3rd Floor)

  • Makes PDF
  • Can only scan one document at a time
  • Requires flash drive

Instructions:

  1. Login by clicking on Patron Scan.
  2. Open the scanner lid and place your document in the upper right corner, face DOWN.
  3. Open Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional from the desktop.
  4. X out the box that pops up (not the whole program, just the dialog box).
  5. Click the Create PDF button, and then click From Scanner.
  6. If you have to select a device, select HP Scanjet 4570/5500c. If you'd like to change any other options (color, resolution, etc.), do so. Then click Scan.
  7. Name your file and choose a place to save it to. I usually save it to the desktop so it is easy to find later.
  8. If you only have one page, click OK when the box comes up. If you have more pages to scan, click Scan more pages and then click OK.
  9. Since you already saved it before you started scanning, you don’t need to save it again and you are done.
