National Network of Libraries of Medicine Regional Directors visit Columbia

Did you know that the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM) was established to advance the progress of medicine and to improve the public health? The NN/LM program is coordinated by the National Library of Medicine and carried out through a nationwide network of health science libraries and information centers.

On February 28th, Wayne Peay & Claire Hamatsu , Director and Assistant Director of the NN/LM Midcontinental Region, shared their plans for this NN/LM region. In the upcoming years, the NN/LM Midcontinental Region will:

• Engage in emergency preparation in order to ensure continuity of access to knowledge
• Work on promoting and improving electronic access information
• Experiment with new communications & networking technologies.

Barb Jones is the Missouri liaison who supports the NN/LM mission by meeting not only with librarians, but also health professionals (nurses, physicians, etc.) to assist them in getting access to quality medical information.
