Getting citations into EndNote from the MERLIN Catalog

Saving citations in MERLIN for importing into EndNote

  1. Add to Bookbag desired records.
  2. When you have finished searching, click on the View Bookbag button.
  3. Click on Export Saved button.
  4. Under Format Of List, choose EndNote.
  5. Under Send List To, choose Local Disk.
  6. Click on SUBMIT, then from the pop-up box, click Save.
  7. Select file name and folder to save your citations.

Importing MERLIN citations into EndNote

  1. Start Endnote and open an existing library or create a new one.
  2. Choose File from the tool bar and choose Import (the Import screen will come up).
  3. On the Import Screen there are three boxes requiring input:
    • Import Data File: Click on Choose File. Specify the directory and the name of the file you just saved. Click on OK and the information will be put in the provided box.
    • Import Options: Choose Other Filters from the pull down menu. Scroll down the alphabetical list of filters. Mark INNOPAC, and click Choose.
    • Duplicates: Specify desired option from the pull down menu.
  4. After the file information has been entered into the three provided boxes click on Import. The file of the saved citations will be automatically imported into the open EndNote library.
  5. Once the documents are in the library they can be edited as desired.
